WE Scare Hunger is a community initiative food drive. Dedicated to supporting food banks and raising awareness about local hunger in Edmonton. Since 1998, over 5.6 million pounds of food have been raised in support of local food banks and communities. WE.org and Koch Ford are passionate about enriching Edmonton’s community.
What is WE Scare Hunger?
Can you imagine how tough it would be to get through your day-to-day life if you were constantly hungry? How about dealing with the stress of not knowing where your next meal will come from? The reality is that hunger, also known as food insecurity, is a real issue in Canada.
According to Food Banks Canada, more than 850,000 Canadians from all walks of life rely on the support of food banks every month, and children make up almost 40 percent of that number. WE Scare Hunger is a collaboration between WE.org and Ford Canada on a mission to scare away hunger and help end this problem. To date, Ford Dealers have been responsible for an additional 625,000 pounds of food reaching food banks in need.
Hunger Heroes!
This year Koch Fleet Team has partnered up with Blessed Oscar Romero High School and H.E. Beriault Junior High School to participate in the WE Scare Hunger campaign. We collected donations in our dealership during October and transported the school’s donations to the Edmonton Food Bank. Together, we have a total of 2,679 pounds of food!
With Leon Draisatl of Edmonton Oilers, Jim Hartford of Ford Canada, and Spencer Nixon of WE.org, 200 students and Ford dealerships from Edmonton have stepped up to scare away the hunger.
We at Koch Ford Lincoln believe in supporting our local community. When a community comes together for a great cause, good things happen. It doesn’t take much for an individual or an organization to make a big impact! Support the local food bank today!
